Mulching & Bed Care

Landscape beds are the frame around your property's picture. Overgrown weeds, sparse mulch, and unedged borders signal neglect faster than almost anything else. Our bed care programs keep every bed clean, defined, and properly mulched throughout the year.

What's Included

  • Fresh mulch installation (pine bark, cypress, or rubber mulch)
  • Weed control — mechanical and pre-emergent treatment
  • Crisp bed edging and re-definition after every mow
  • Shrub trimming and shape maintenance
  • Groundcover maintenance and replanting
  • Mulch depth monitoring to maintain 3-inch coverage

Why It Matters

Weed Suppression

Proper mulch depth and pre-emergent application significantly reduces weed pressure, keeping beds clean between visits.

Moisture Retention

A 3-inch mulch layer reduces soil moisture loss by up to 50% — critical during Northern Florida's dry season.

Plant Health

Correct mulch keeps soil temperature stable, prevents root damage from mowing, and reduces splash-up disease from rain.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often is mulch refreshed?

We recommend a full mulch refresh twice per year (spring and fall). Mid-year touch-ups are included as part of our ongoing bed care service.

What type of mulch do you use?

We default to double-ground pine bark, which is the most common and cost-effective option in Northern Florida. Cypress mulch and rubber mulch are available at an additional cost.

Do you treat weeds chemically or mechanically?

We use a combination — hand-pulling for active weeds and pre-emergent herbicide to prevent germination. We can also offer an organic/chemical-free program upon request.
